The types of ev chargers are generally distinguished by four types: charging, service object, installation, and charging interface. Here we introduce to you the four types of electric vehicle chargers.
1. Electric vehicle chargers are classified by charging type, mainly divided into AC chargers and DC chargers.
AC chargers generally have low current, small charger shape, flexible installation, and a full charge generally takes 5-8 hours. They are suitable for small passenger electric vehicles and are mostly used in public parking lots, large shopping malls, and community garages. Most household chargers are AC chargers.
DC chargers generally have large currents and a larger charging capacity in a short time. The charger has a larger shape and takes up a large area (heat dissipation). The DC charger is suitable for fast DC charging of electric buses, minibuses, hybrid buses, electric cars, taxis, engineering vehicles, etc.
2. Electric vehicle chargers are classified according to service objects, mainly divided into public chargers, dedicated chargers and self-use chargers.
This is just a distinction between the uses of chargers. The roles of chargers for different service objects can also be interchanged. Public chargers are purchased by government agencies and other public service institutions, and the service targets any electric vehicle owners, such as public parking lots. Special chargers are mostly built by companies and serve customers and internal personnel, such as shopping mall parking lots. Self-use chargers are private chargers, installed in private areas and not open to the public.
3. Electric vehicle chargers are classified according to the protection level of the installation location, and are mainly divided into indoor chargers and outdoor chargers.
The protection level of the indoor charger needs to be at least IP32 or above, while the outdoor charger needs to face the harsh environment of wind and rain, and needs better insulation and lightning protection conditions. Its protection level must reach at least IP54 to ensure personal safety, vehicle body safety and Charging equipment is safe.
4. Electric vehicle chargers are classified by the number of charging interfaces.
At present, the chargers on the market are mainly one-charge, one-charge type. In large parking lots such as bus parking lots, multi-charge chargers are needed to support the charging of multiple electric vehicles simultaneously, which not only speeds up charging efficiency, but also saves labor.
